Biker taken out by road hog, with a difference

A 50-year-old Townsville man was taken to hospital after his Yamaha motorcycle crashed into a pig on the Flinders Highway east of Charters Towers.

The man, riding a Yamaha XZ225, was heading toward Townsville about 13km  out of Charters Towers when he hit the animal as it crossed the road just after 8pm.

 He was taken to Charters Tower Hospital with fractured ribs.

 Townsville Police said his injuries were not life threatening.

The pig's fate was unknown.
