The Tom Tom Rider is the first GPS made specifically for motorcycles or scooters and fills a large gap in mobile GPS offerings. We think there are four main areas a motorcycle based unit such as this should focus on - durable design, a clear display, ease of use and audio clarity. Tom Tom has certainly achieved the first two, but the latter two are very much lacking.

yeah a lot of forums like this are better than the useless sales staff at most shops ive bought the strike genius since my last post and its great on all 4 fronts listed in the first post. really big screen thats easy to see even when im riding in the sun plus easy to use. nothing overly fancy about it just a solid gps unit (and one with free map updates!!) the google earth tracker thing is a bit fiddly but once you know how to use it its an interesting feature

Thanks for the heads up on these. Started looking for a Nav for the bikes/trike today but none of the shops I tried knew anything about them - now I have a start point for the search.

thanks jiashahood The sales guy showed me how you can record your track and then drop it into google earth and it shows speed, track etc. Pretty cool feature but $499 s still pretty expensive.

@ austin The price is $499 - I saw it at Ulysses Albany and I reckon it is a winner. I don't know when it is out.

I also want to have a GPS for my bike? I saw the new Strike Genius in action at the Gold Coast show last month. Looks to be the goods. Software has been customised for the bike so it is easy to operate. Not sure on the price point yet. Anyone heard?

Tony, some people like to go out to cafe's, drink & smoke. I like to spend my time and spare cash (not much of that) on the one thing I love most. The other half comes a close second or should that be the other way around??? What more can I say. [schild=14 fontcolor=000000 shadowcolor=C0C0C0 shieldshadow=1]Live to Ride[/schild]

love my Garmin easy to read, touch screen setup and if you want to use the voice on it you can even hear it when riding which is a plus - although other motorists tend to stare at you when they hear it

God Mutrus, is there anything you haven't got? I have to say I am disappointed with my Navman PiN GPS. It is very slow to get set up and it turns itself off at the most inconvenient times. It's also hard to see in the full sunlight on the bike.

I've tried Tom Tom, Navman & Garmin sat nav's. Pay the extra and get the Garman Zumo 550. You won't be sorry. [schild=11 fontcolor=000000 shadowcolor=C0C0C0 shieldshadow=1]Never get lost again[/schild]
