Last year, David Beckham and a bunch of his pals went on a bike trip into the Amazon rainforest.
They went so deep they not only came across locals who didn’t know he was; they met some who didn’t appear to know what a football was!
Well, impressed by the TV documentary and the ruggedness of the bikes they rode, Motolegends, the apparel retailer, decided to build themselves a replica.
And then they had a clever idea; give it away instead!
The basis of the conversion is a 2001 Triumph Bonneville, the same as David’s. It was stripped and then painted matt black throughout, including the handlebars and spoke wheels. Mudguards came off; a new custom seat went on, as did a set of knobbly Metzler tyres. The final flourish was a ceramic coated, high level Arrow, off-road exhaust.
The end result is a dead ringer for David’s actual bike. It’s no lightweight, off-roader, but it rides smoothly, stops and goes really well, and makes an awesome growl.
Motolegends is going to be giving the bike away later in the year at the end of the NEC Motorcycle Show and, to win it, all you have to do is give them your name, address and email address; and keep your fingers crossed!
