Frequently asked questions about Bikes on Show
Is this a business?
No, it’s a privately owned website. The webmaster has put up the money to build, host and manage this website because he believes it will help brings bike enthusiasts across Australia together in one place, where we can all share information and help each other.
The site will encourage some sponsorship (advertising) to help offset costs, but we certainly don’t expect to make money from it. For the most part, sponsor contributions (and you’re private contributions, if you feel like making any) will go towards the running costs of the site, growing our capacity and providing more services to members.
And our sponsorships will never be at the expense of your freedom to comment on and provide honest feedback the businesses you deal with.
Will I have to pay to be a member?
No, you won’t.
Participating in Bikes on Show is free and always will be, so long as we can generate a small revenue stream from sponsors and donations to cover costs, we expect to be able to continue to provide this service to members free of charge.
What do you do with the information you collect?
A very good question, and one we are very happy to answer.
We compile the information we collect from you, along with the info from all the other members who join Bikes on Show, and we use it to create comparison information that you can use to compare bike purchasing costs, insurance costs, registration and third party costs, accessories and modification costs, even track times and dyno test results.
How much information we can share depends on how much information our members provide about their own bikes. The more you provide, the more we have, the more we can share back with you. It’s that simple.
